Connect your device to power, enter setup mode, join the device hotspot, and bind it to a stable 2.4GHz WiFi network.
Prepare 240x240 animation files, reduce colors, preview motion, and upload optimized GIFs for smoother playback.
Use this quick guide when setup loops, WiFi fails, or the display freezes after uploading a new animation.
Setup Troubleshooting
The display requires a 2.4GHz network. 5GHz is not supported. If your router combines 2.4G and 5G under a single SSID, create a separate 2.4GHz guest network and reconnect. Also ensure your WiFi password contains no spaces or special characters.
Once the clock restarts, it will briefly display its new local IP address on the screen for only 3 to 5 seconds. Make sure to have your phone camera ready to take a quick photo of the screen so you do not miss this IP. If you miss it, you can check your router's connected devices list for a device named "HelloCubic" or "espressif".
Plug in the power cable. The moment the screen lights up or the progress bar appears, unplug the cable immediately. Repeat this power cycle 3 times. On the third boot, the clock will enter AP mode and display the "GIFTV" WiFi hotspot and QR code.
GIF Troubleshooting
Use square 240x240 files when possible. Keep the frame count reasonable and reduce colors for smoother playback.
Large files, too many colors, or too many frames can slow playback. Re-export at a lower frame count and compress before uploading.
Most GIFs work after optimization, but high-resolution or transparent GIFs may need conversion first. Use the GIF Tool page for cleaner results.
